Dewey 'Mac' McCrary took his last flight home July 7, 2010. Mac retired from a career with the navy as a naval aviator with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Mac served aboard the USS Cabot and the USS Midway and was stationed around the world. Mac was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee December 21, 1927. He received his wings in 1948 and his Naval Aviator diploma in 1949, and a Bachelors Degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1956.  In 1966, Mac qualified for and received his commercial pilot's license. Mac maintained lifelong friendships with his midshipmen mates and always acquired new friends wherever he lived or travelled. Mac never met a question he didn't like. He was always curious and interested and interesting. And very charming. Mac married his wife, Altha Damarius McCrary, in January 1988 and the two travelled extensively throughout Europe and other ports of call. They resided in San Diego until this past spring when they moved to Seattle to be closer to family. Mac was deeply loved by his wife, Altha, his daughter, Judy Koeppen, his step-daughters, Carol Beyer, Alexandria Odjonii, Shari Lynn-Myers, step-son Richard Newsome, and his grandchildren. At his request, Dewey W. McCrary, Lt.Cmdr, will be cremated and his ashes scattered in the ocean by the US Navy.
