Donald A. Lehman
CDR. DONALD ALBERT LEHMAN, USN (RET)
1928-2009 Donald Albert Lehman, 80, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009. Don was born on July 1, 1928 in Perrysburg, Ohio, to Charles and Olive Lehman. He attended Princeton University and the Univ. of Michigan, receiving a bachelor's degree in natural resources. Don entered the Navy Flying Midshipman cadet aviation program in 1946 and received his carrier qualifications in 1949. Cdr. Lehman retired from the Navy in 1969 and shortly thereafter began working with Lakeview Center in business administration. He retired from Lakeview in 1993 after guiding the organization's growth from only 44 employees to an enterprise of 1100 men and women.
Even after his retirement, Don remained very active in the community as a member of the Rotary Club, Christian Business Men's Committee, Dadaelians, and Pensacola Rifle and Pistol Club. He served on the board of directors for the Northwest Florida Blood Center; held numerous positions at Cokesbury United Methodist Church; and was also active with the local and regional levels of the United Methodist Church. He volunteered at Manna Food Bank and in local prison ministry. Above all, Don was dedicated to his family and was a loving and supportive husband and father.
Don was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Jean Frances Lehman. He is survived by his son Rick Lehman and daughter Rebecca Conley (Dale Conley).
