Kathleen Cooper-Burton
COOPER-BURTON, Kathleen Born in Minneapolis
in 1922, Kathleen will be remembered for many things, not least among them
her radiant smile, her enormous faith and her many contributions to
others. Spending most of her adult life in California, Kathleen married
Claude Cooper in 1946 and with him, had three children. Widowed in 1979,
Kathleen was diagnosed with Parkinson disease in 1981. In later life,
Kathleen devoted herself to her children, to her volunteer work at Long
Beach Memorial Children's Auxiliary, and to helping people with Parkinson
Disease. As President of the L.A. Parkinson's Chapter for many years,
Kathleen directed efforts that raised nearly $2,000,000 for Parkinson's
research and care. Kathleen still fights Parkinson disease today; she
donated her brain to research. In 1998, after a fifteen year courtship,
Kathleen married J.D. Burton, a man she met first when married to Claude.
Widowed again in 1998, Kathleen's faith, good works and famous smile held
fast until her death on January 14, 2008. Kathleen is survived by her
daughters Claudia Stone and Stephanie Cook, her son Douglas Cooper, four
grandchildren, Samuel, Ryan, Eileen and Christopher and three
great-grandchildren, Eden, Madeline, and Asher. Funeral Services will be
held at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Road, in Whittier, at
1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Viewing will take place at Rose
Hills on Friday, January 25, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers,
