JAMIESON, Frederick T.
Fred led an amazing life and had an indomitable spirit. He passed away peacefully at home February 2, 2009. He was 81. Fred was born in Alameda on September 30, 1927 to Irene Templeton Jamieson and Bruce Jamieson. He was raised in Hayward, and completed flight training at NAS Pensacola, Florida in 1949. He was a loving husband, father, brother, mentor and friend. As a pilot, he flew just about anything airworthy. Besides being Naval Aviator during the Korean War, he was a test pilot, airline pilot, navigator, crop duster, engineer, inventor, machinist and a small business owner. Fred was an accomplished helicopter pilot who was influential in helicopter design and applications. He worked for Hiller Helicopters in Palo Alto, and Hughes Aircraft in Washington D.C. He then ran a helicopter operation that supplied mining camps in Canada and Alaska. In the late 1970's, Fred retired from a successful career in aviation and turned his hobby of flying model airplanes into a successful model airplane propeller company, Windsor Propeller. His prop designs are sold throughout the world. Along the way, he touched many lives as a mentor and friend; as an employer, he had no equal. Fred is survived by his children, Mark, Jennifer, Cameron, Sherril, and Robert, and by his dogs, Courage and Rascal. His is remembered by numerous friends and by his ''family'' at Windsor Propeller Company. Our joy is in knowing he joins his dear daughter Shannon Lynn, mother Irene, father Robert and sister Cam. Fred left a legacy of love and friendship that will be treasured forever. He will be deeply missed.
