CLINTON — Donald A. Gardner, of Clinton, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008, in his residence. He was born on Nov. 23, 1929, in Warren Pa., to Donald D. Gardner and Mercedes J. Gardner. He was married to Elizabeth Morey Hain Gardner on Feb. 24, 1951, in Norfolk, Va., and she survives. He was a retired aeronautical engineer and farmer.Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald L. of West Chester, Ohio, James M. of Cincinnati, and Matthew G. of Lerna, Ill., and their wives; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mercedes Jane Carr of Zanesville, Ohio; and one brother James Mc. Gardner of St. Augustine, Fla.He was preceded in death by his parents.He was a U.S. Navy veteran in Naval Aviator, He was in active duty from 1949 to 1952. He was a life member of Aviation Midshipmen Association and American Legion Post 140. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with military rites in Walnut Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Bumgardner officiating. No visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Elizabeth H. Gardner Scholarship (Veterinary School) fund at Purdue University, West Lafayette in his memory. Envelopes will be available. Frist Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
